Symphonic in Miniature

Atlantic Symphony Orchestra

The Festival

The proposal 'Sinfónicos en miniatura' began in 2015 at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in the capital of Gran Canaria when the orchestra conducted by Isabel Costes prepared a programme based on adaptations of great composers such as Schöenberg, Simon, Farrington and Webern, thus bringing the world of the great symphonies, for which large orchestral ensembles are required, to those places in the Canary Islands that do not have a symphony orchestra on a regular basis.

As Isabel Costes explains, "the success of this proposal lies in offering the public a chamber music vision of a symphonic repertoire, where the structural essence of the compositions transcends the complex textures of the orchestral formation and the work stands out in its purest state. Thus it is very attractive to appreciate in this format how works by Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Dukas, Mahler or Bruckner behave", Costes points out.
