Symphonic in Miniature

Atlantic Symphony Orchestra

The Festival

The proposal 'Sinfónicos en miniatura' began in 2015 at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, when the orchestra conducted by Isabel Costes, prepared a programme based on adaptations of great composers such as Schöenberg, Simon, Farrington or Webern, thus bringing the world of the great symphonies closer, from a chamber perspective, while maintaining the essence of the composers' original language, offering a form of interaction between musicians and audience that is as direct as it is original and satisfying, rooted in the responsibility of performing very complex repertoires through small-format orchestral ensembles.

As Isabel Costes explains, "the success of this proposal lies in offering the public a chamber music vision of a symphonic repertoire, where the structural essence of the compositions transcends the complex textures of the orchestral formation and the work stands out in its purest state. Thus it is very attractive to appreciate in this format how works by Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Dukas, Mahler or Bruckner behave", Costes points out.
